As of October 1st, 2022, Malaysia invites affluent foreigners to join the Premium Visa Programme (PVIP), a "Residency Through Investment" initiative offering a 20-year stay with an optional 20-year extension.

PVIP Requirements

Investment

Principal applicants are required to make a local fixed deposit placement of RM 1,000,000 with no withdrawals allowed on the principal value for the first six months; while up to a 50% withdrawal from the principal value will be allowed after.

Proof of Local/Foreign Income

Principal applicants are required to provide proof of onshore/offshore income of at least RM 40,000 a month or RM 480,000 a year.

Letter of Good Conduct

Principal applicants are required to submit proof of a clean criminal record issued by their country of origin or current country of residence.

Medical

Applicants and their dependents must submit a medical report from a Malaysian private hospital or registered clinic, along with evidence of valid local medical insurance coverage.

Participation Fee

Principal applicants must pay a one-time participation fee of RM 200,000, while each dependent incurs a one-time fee of RM 100,000.

Income / Financial Assets

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • ① Monthly income (net): RM40,000 or above
  • ② Annual income (net): RM480,000 or above
  • ③ Financial assets: RM1 billion or above

* The income requirements for ① and ② include both offshore income and domestic (onshore) income earned within Malaysia. In addition, the requirements are based on after-tax net income.

Fixed Deposit

Applicants are required to place a minimum of RM1,000,000 in a fixed deposit account with a bank in Malaysia.

Participation Fee

A one-time payment to the Malaysian government upon approval:

  • Main applicant: RM200,000
  • Each dependant: RM100,000
No Criminal Record

Applicants must submit proof of a clean criminal record.
